  • In Denmark there are 5,396 purebred Highlanders
  • There are 2,082 purebred Highland cows and futhermore 587 cows have the external Highland code - however they are not purebred

  • 758 farms with purebred Highlanders and 210 farms with crossbred Highlanders

  • There are 257 members (February 2009) in the Danish Highland Cattle Society

  • Highlanders are the 6th most popular beef breed in Denmark. The most popular breed is Limousine with 22,268 purebred animals. The total number of purebred beef cattle in Denmark is 68,345

  • 106 Highlanders were exported in 2008

  • 116 doses of semen were exported

  • 0.3 % of all Highland cows are inseminated (a total 74 inseminations)

  • 98.9 % of Highland cows are calve easily and without help

  • 94.9 % of Highland heifers calve easily and without help

  • 1.2 % of Highland cows have stillborn calves
